By Anselm Parlatore

What can be more beautiful than ‘Pandaemonium,

Paradise, Heaven, Angels, Adam and Eve?

                                              Addison  “The Spectator”

Traces, churls of the chimera

clumsily all certainties vanish

save the graces of martyrdom

the raptures & dreads concealed

sweetness of decay’s honey

for such a dark, bursting heart

the beginning & ending of myths

algebraic complexities, the facetiae.

& Satan on the chiastic promontory

vapors of the ethereal orbs

pandemonium & then the hesitation

imperceptible gradations of transcendence

the terror & then the Angels

an extravagance of tendrils

a parched but sublime desire

haunting in its gracious contours.
