By Anselm Parlatore

                                 ………their thin blood

                                 Pulse pizzicati of Hosanna

Wallace Stevens  “Peter Quince at the Clavier”

1.

Slack highwater as it turns

the harsh apparitions & genteel pieties

blandishments for the flayed, the flurried,

Jacopone da Todi & his flagellants

along the matrix’s scaffolding

stem cells of a Jurassic

pterodactyl for the anemones

opening & closing to this tide’s rhythm.

2.

But there is a different story. It is

of intermingled echoes & chants

the jargon of white laboratories

& medieval cathedrals, their

gorgeous vectors geometrically

piercing the heart, the suppliants

& the laudi heraldic, passionate

in Hebraic reverberations, precision.
