Who Would’ve Thought

By Alison Stone

The wind goosebumps our damp

skin as we lie entwined near the pond

listening to fish splash and the crickets’

din. After kids and cranky

sleep-deprived years, still the

dim, cloud-veiled stars dazzle. Dark

earth breathes beneath us as our

aging bodies wake and feed.
