The Plagiarist

By John Grey

First, I tried an imitation
of his poem
but that didn’t work.
So then I brazenly
claimed his creation
as mine.
Further to that,
I maintained
that I was him.
And then,
by my jealous logic,
he had to be me.
I even went ahead
and sued him
for plagiarism.
The case is currently
in judicial limbo.
This is the poem in question.
We’re both in here somewhere.
