By Sam Piccone
The dogs behind the glass
are always
looking
around
through half shut stares.
Like I’m supposed
to want to press my lips
against the glass
and pretend
what it feels
like to kiss
their peach fuzz foreheads.
but then I realize
that I’m behind it too,
from the opposite side,
and that I’m actually
in the
kitchen, cutting
sausages, looking at the dog
through the window.
